Govt will NOT do anything to make stock market bounce back. If it wants to do something, it should take the following steps:
Reduce interest rates on advances against shares to 11% per annum;
ask banks to liberally finance against shares;
ask companies to declare handsome dividends, they must distribute at least 50% of their net profit as divideds.;
ask companies with strong reserves position to declare bonus shares;
reduce corporate taxes to 25% with no cess or surcharge thereon;
abolish short term capital gains tax and securities transactions tax; or at least reduce them to 5%.

First of all when all are on holidays, nothing may happen. Secondly it does not depend on the Govt. much.

I don't think Govt can play any role in restoring the confidence and sentiments of markets...
