Q.

Can you name a prayer song/bhajan, which makes you elated, recharged, peaceful and you will feel like floating as a light feather, away from all the turmoils, which gives you immense confidence and assurance that you are always cared, loved and protected by HIM?

For me prayer is a habit but when i sing or listen to a bhajan or a devotional song I feel more emotional and intense connection with HIM than saying vishnu sahasranamam, sashti kavacham, kandha guru kavacham etc...which i say everyday. But some days, when i am worried abt something or feel uneasy .. I put on MS's meera bhajans....out of which "hari tuma haro jana ki pir" never fails to move me every time i hear it. Another bhajan of mira "tumri karan sab kuch chora' rendered by Janki is also one of my favourite.
Sometimes, when alone I sit with my tanpur and sing some bhajans of mirabai, kabeer or surdas and lose the sense of time totally engrossed in Him....although these days it is not often that i do that. But whenever i either listen or sing it s not as if some miracle removed all the problems and worries but i do get peace and strength to cope with everything...

Muktha, you have put this Q and there are multiple choices i got. I browze tro diff choices of friends made here and i find many of their choices also on my list. Infact there are a few number of songs/ Bhajans/prayers that boost me and they happen to be recited in diff regional languages as well. But to zero down, i have this one all time fav, "Ae malik tere bande hum, aise ho humare karam...." one beautiful song this is that i have grown up with. In times , when things fall low and down,i switch on to these beautiful prayers to seek divine intervention. And at the end of it, dont really know if its a mind game, but i really find myself in a better position than i was minutes before. Thanks for this beautiful Q muktha.

Dear Muktha, would you believe if I tell you here that the song/bhajan which makes me elated, peaceful had been recommended to all the public living in my city by two political leaders? Yes, certainly your question pulled me to those election campaigning days and somehow in other parts of Maharashtra there were eruption of Hindu~Muslim communal riots and even the government in office was very much concerned to the mounting tension in keeping the harmony between two communities. Though the flames of hatred were on escalating, still there were national elections on the door steps. My city has always been known as a prototype of people of both religions living in brotherhood, yet the symptoms of rage spread in other small towns were filtering in some sections by skillful trouble mongers and seekers. Under such belief and disbelief environment, senior members (of both religions) of the City Forum came together and decided to call two prominent leaders representing each religion to address ...more
