Before investing your money, it is important to know when you'll need this money......if you need money within few months or a year or two, it is better to go for bank FD.....if you have a time of more than 5 yrs, Go for Equity Mutual funds like HDFC Top 200 or Reliance Equity Opportunities Fund of ICICI Prudential Discovery Fund......You may also invest some moeny(not all) in ICICI prudential Banking & Financial Sector Fund or SBI Magnum FMCG fund.

It depends upon your age, the number of dependents upon you. By the way aapne insure to karwa rakha hai na... sath hi badhti age k sath health insurance ki bhi zarurat padti hai. dont ignore these two. kamse kam 2 lac ki savings me se 10-10 thousand k premium k ye dono investment zaroor karna. coz these are investment to life and relations. Income badhe to premium bhi badhate jana.
