Be confidant when U speak. Local accent is normal so remove your inferiority complex. Only thing is U need to speak slowly - word by word so that opposite person can understand.
To improve English is a long process. But be patient and Take following steps to improve your communication skills:
1) Talk slowly
2) Increase your knowledge by reading magazines of your field / news papers for improved knowledge / improved English.
3) Read Loudly - review for new words and if need be refer dictionary.
4) Listen to English programs - especially news.
5) If you can spend money - purchase Audio / video CDs.
6) Start and continue talking in English - where ever possible, without feeling uncomfortable about broken English you speak - initially.
7) One Ms. Amrita is running a web page to help people improve English. You may visit web page: http://www.amuseonline.com/index.aspx

Dear Neema, have confidence, avoid hesitation. (1) If possible communicate in English with small kids or with the people who have less knowledge of English. It is compulsory for having confidence. (2) speak in English infront of mirror (3) Question yourself in English and also try to give answer in English.(4) Make a group of friends who have same knowledge as urs, try to communicate with them in English. Hope these ideas could work for u. All the best.........
