Faced it many times - in the place where I lived until some years ago.
That place, just outside the Municipal limits of Mumbai [Mira Road] was notorious for erratic water supply. In a fortnight, not getting water supply for 4 days was quite common.
We used to heavily spend on Bisleri Water Cans & bring mini water tankers at exhorbitant cost, which used to supply upto 125 Lts. of water.
Water for us was more precious than even gold.
