Religion is a liability in other countries. Such an
attitude breeds atheists. All other countries have
mono-theism. Hinduism is poly-theism. All rivers
finally join the one ocean. In the same way, worship of
any god will finally reach Paramatma. In India, we are
free to choose a god of our liking. This is what it
keeps our individuality and spiritual freedom . We can
make religion our way of life, and live a very lively
life. It shows the unity in diversity among Indians.

Yes one should know about their origins

The word Hindu is much older than the word Hinduism it was made merely into an ism by British.
The first occupants of Indus valley were sanathanis who were there from time immemorial they called the river,Mother goddess of all.Later 108 tribes from far north west came and the sanathanis happily accommodated them also in the valley these tribes they used to fight with each other earlier in their native place later a famine came which nmade them leave in search of a better palce to live in.During the migration they forgave and forgot the enmity between them and a wise elder of one group was leading them.He never knew where to lead them and he followed the mating calls of two Jatayu birds which is Hinfrom male and Du from female and finally after months and years of migration and suffering they reached the great river valley and were frightened to see another group(Sanathanis) settled on its bank.Their insecurirty was mainly due to the fear of ...more

Hinduism, which evolved in and around the Indus Valley civilsation, better known as sanatana dharma, is a way of life to live a fruitful life and to realise the devine.
Unity in diversity and diversity in unity are its facemarks. Also it allows a lot of freedom to choose ones own path in the realisation of the devine. And there were several great saints and rishis who have enhanced this faith with their great writings and phylosophies. Hence its scope and dimensions are very much comprehensive when compared to other religions of te world. This makes it difficult for a common man to aquire profound or even reasonable knowledge about the totality of this faith. Still it is very necessary to have the main principles summerised in simple terms so that the majority can be conversant with the scope and truth of their own faith.
