There is no summer destination in India like the Himalayas. This covers regions right from Jammu and Kashmir to the Eastern states.
Some high altitude regions in other parts of India are also worth visiting, e.g. Ootakamund, Kodaikanal

My instant choice will be for Binsar in Kumaon . Just an hours drive from Almorah . Far from the madding crowd . Except a Kumaon nigam resort , no joint nearby . Only time electricity comes during 7 pm to 9 pm with solar power.
You can walk through deep forest with majestic Himalayas walking by your side . Smell of flowers , trees , you can hear birds and winds sing .. cool bridge sweeping your ecstasy . You will simply be mesmerized by the beauty of nature

As far as i am concerned, the best place is Gods own creation, Kerala where you can see so many things, nature galore, Munnar Lake and other things. the other best destination is Kodaikanal, Kulu Manali and Ooty
