Hinduism does believe in Heaven and Hell, but they are not eternal as projected by many religions.

The Hells and Heavens as per hinduism are transitory places, where souls gets rest and works out its subtle karma, before taking re-birth.

As per "Autobiography of a Yogi", Saint Yuktananda came back and told yogananda about these hells and heavens. As per his authentic descriptions, these are astral levels, where soul has to stay for some time till it gets out of its subtle karmic debts.

For examples, terrorists go a level of hell where they continue their war with others at subtler levels, till they are tired of it and are peaceful enough to take rebirth.

Those who die on earth and have good karmas go to an astral plane (which you can call heaven) stay there for some time (which may be 10000s of years for us), and enjoy the fruits of its karma. When these good karmas are finished, the soul comes back to earth in new incarnation.
