Well Josna, I know personally that in Chennai in the college of fine arts it is done as a part of their curriculum, but then the models are from down the poverty line. So Like Joyoti Mam said it is a matter of personal choice.

Michelangelo's David is considered a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture.
What would you say about the validity of the boy who modelled nude for this?
Why do 2 million people flock to the Italian city of Florence every year to look at an enormous statue of a naked man? Why does a work of art created half a millennium ago possess such a timeless, universal appeal?
The answer is simple: The magnificent projection of man at his best - vigorously healthy, beautiful, rational, competent. It expresses a heroic view of man and of a universe auspicious to his success. Such a projection is of immeasurable worth to anyone who holds such a sense of life.
This is my answer to your question
