Varkala beach resort in Thiruvananthapuram district has mineral water springs which are believed to have medicinal properties in it. The beach also houses 2000 year old Janardana Swamy Temple and a Nature Centre which have become the two main attractions of Varkala Beach. The nearest railway station is Varkala Railway Station on the Southern Railway lines and the nearest airport is Thiruvananthapuram international airport which is nearly 57 km away.
