There is a fundamental difference between Gandhi on one side and Mao and Lenin on the other. Gandhi was a spiritual person who used non violence to persuade his opponent. For the other two iconic figures the aim was to get power through the barrel of the gun.
Legacy - Lenin is long forgotten and has no relevance at all in today's Russia. Mao's ideology of orthodox communism has given way to market based economy in China. But Gandhi's name is still the most powerful vote catching mantra in India

The cultural diversity that it has today was non-existent at the time of the Revolutionary War. Its ideologies were the result of a predominantly Calvinist influence on religious beliefs and principles hard work, honesty, thrift, etc. Philosophers such as John Locke English had a profound influence on people such as Jefferson, Madison, Franklin, and others. Mao. I had seen he is being worshipped now also by the people. He framed photographs can be seen every where and in almost every home, like MGR's in TN. Second may be Lenin. However, his dead body having been now burried, his clout stands to be on the slide.
