Venus is closer to earth and takes shorter period of 7 and 1/2 months. and its surface are much hotter whereas Mars is more distant, cooler and have agreeable features for human life. But transport cost from Mars to Earth is lot more than earth to Venus. So you need stringer air conditioners in Venus with electrical appliances need altogether different specifications. But for Mars things are more reasonable and friendly. Hence cost of living is lower there. But the problem is, there is no life in either places.
