Kajol's younger sister is actress Tanisha Mukherjee. She is the granddaughter of Shobana Samarth, her parents are Shomu Mukherjee and actress Tanuja and her aunt is yesteryears' actress Nutan. Sashadhar Mukherjee is her paternal grandfather, Joy Mukherjee and Deb Mukherjee are her uncles and Rattan Bai is her great-grandmother. She was born in Mumbai on January 1, 1978. She made her Bollywood debut in 'Sssshhh' (2003) opposite Dino Morea. After a few flops, she got her first hit film with the 2005 film 'Sarkar', starring Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan and directed by Ram Gopal Varma. She will soon be seen in 'One Two Three' and the sequel to 'Sarkar', titled 'Sarkar Raj', which stars Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya-Rai Bachchan. Both these films are 2008 releases.
