Foreign invaders conquered India in the 12th century and ruled us for more than 500 years. This had happened due to the disunity of Indians at that time. Is a similar situation prevailing in the country today with political parties fighting each other and some would not even mind surrendering the country to the enemies for the sake of power. Your views?
We never really bothered with the process of nation building ever. And that continues even today.
If u breakdown say- Japanese anthropology, you will be able to identify a common set of identifiable beliefs and value systems right from the Kofun period right up to Emperor Hirohito.
When u don't have a set of identifiable anthropological values in a culture over its history, yeah, that society (or culture) hasn't bothered w/ nation building process yet and is a gold mine for raiders, both white collar and blue.
We were culturally having close affinity though different but never were we a nation all these years. But the need to get the Britishers out of the country gave an opportunity to rally together the people once again some time from the later 19th century, that culminated in the freedom movement and the final exit of the British in 1947.

The coming of Islam and of a considerable number of people from outside with different ways of living and thought affected these beliefs and structure. A foreign conquest, with all its evils, has one advantage: it widens the mental horizon of the people and compels them to look out of their shells. They realize that the world is a much bigger and a more variegated place than they had imagined. So the Afghan conquest had affected India and many changes had taken place. Even more so the Moghals, who were far more cultured and advanced in the ways of living than the Afghans, brought changes to India. In particular, they introduced the refinements for which Iran was famous.

India was a prospering and peaceful land. There were no military unity.
But today India is a mighty country. No country will dare to challenge us, other than doing some vague proxy war.
And no matter how many corrupt political parties we have none of them can effort to became non patriotic. The inbuilt system in India will take care of all betrayers.
Let us not forget, India today is not only a so called country but also a great conception.
