For all those non- Kannadigas living in Bangalore and are planning to settle down in the city heres some news for you. The Kannada Development Authority (KDA) has recommended the State Government to pass legislation and get the non-Kannadigas to learn the language in a year. The outstation population in Bangalore and the rest of the state will have to at least pass Std VII Kannada exam in less than a year and should be able to read and write the language

No. You cannot impose language; everybody is free to learn what they like. After all Bangalore will pray the price for it...Excessive regionalism and chauvinism will hurt the IT sector which require open and metropolitan culture. Many IT projects in Hyderabad were hurt a few years ago when Telangana problem was at its peak and bandhs were called every now and then...

You dont need to be fully literate in Kannada atleast just learn to speak is what i would feel!

I dont know when we will learn to be Roman in Rome! I can talk a few south Indian languages. But in Many in Bangalore havent tried to learn the local language even after staying for decades as blore has cosmopolitan approach. But this creates divide among locals and migrants. Or scarp this states created by Nehru idealogy and have one national language and just say keep ur mother tongue to ur homes!
