From the Lok Sabha elections perspective, the situation has become very complicated for both the Congress and the BJP. I do not understand from which states they will get seats to get majority in the parliament. Only allies can help to form a government.
BJP has almost no presence in the North East and even the South and for both Congress and the BJP, from the cow belt UP and Bihar are almost grabbed by others.

As such norther states are totally neglected under various context and there is a too for ny political leader to come-out with a huge developmental programs. In fact eastern and northeaster states are pulling down the over growth rate.
BJP should make use of this vacuum in those states and come-out with a clear-cut election manifesto for regional developmental programs for transportation infrastructure, educational centres, job creation exclusively for states if at if BJP wants to realize the absolute majority in next election.

BJP is not exactly a stranger in Eastern India. In Assam and Orissa, they have a sizable presence. The AGP and BJD were in the NDA. Except Assam the seven sisters in the North Easter Region, do not have significant number of seats. In West Bengal BJP is reduced to a party of only four percent votes. So, it wise for BJP to befriend Prafulla Mahanto in Assam and Navin Pattanayak in Orissa. I think, this is going to be their policy.

BJP is a stranger not just in eastern India. BJP is a stranger in any region which were not under Muslims rule in the medieval period, BJP's strength is in settling scores for what happened in the past. That is why BJP's area of influence is limited to those areas where Hindus had suffered under the Mughal rule and those areas which were under Nizam's and Sultans rule.
