I think John Lyly, the Renaissance English poet and Playwright, who coined the usage \"All is fair in love and war\" lacked foresight or lack of observation. Or does it mean that in the late 15th century everything was fair in politics in his country and far beyond? The rules of fair play do not apply in love and war. It is more so in politics also, both national and international.I think I will be accused of \"Carrying coal to NewCastle\" if I try to substantiate my answer with examples from both national and international politics.
It is high time that the word politics is added to the usage so that it reads thus..\"All is fair in Politics, Love and War\"
