A Placement agency is a consultant, but all consultants need not be placement agencies

Conultants are nothing but FRAUDSTERS of a higher calibre while Placement Agencies also play a similar role but to a lesser extent.

In response to the question posted regarding the differences between a consulting firm and a Placement Agencies the answer might vary according to state versus individual interpretation.

As a former leader of NJSA (New Jersey Staffing Alliance) I can give you the definitions according to the Division of Consumer Affairs which this segment of industry in NJ is regulated by. Consulting firms are commonly known as "executive search firms" or "headhunters". These firms identify, appraise, refer and recommend individuals for employment as direct hires. This classification could also come under the older term of "employment agency".

Temporary help services provide workers who are paid by the THS and employed by the THS, but assigned to a company for specific work functions. Temporary help Services are known as staffing firms these days because these firms "provide staff" to their client companies. The client companies then pay the THS based on a negotiated fee per hour worked.
