The 1984 olympics at Los Angeles was boycotted by russia and the Eastern Block as a retaliation for the boycott of 1980 olympics in Moscow, Hene, there was no threat from the eastern block in the hurdles item, Then I have a feeling that had Usha been given coaching by a competent coach, she could have bettered her performance as a hurdler, To me, her hrdling always appeared as a high jump over the bar of the hurdle, where as good hurdlers just "breeze" over the hurdle and save considerable time and energy, This perfect hurdling technique gives them an edge over the competitors, So, missing the bronze is sad , but thre lack of a perfect coaching in hurles, make sit all the more sad, Just remember how Edwin Moses, the four time olympic champion in 400 meters hurdles for men, "glided" over the hurdles beam, This is a classic example of how to run the hurdles !! and he had no coach as there were none competent to coach him !!!!
