Insomnia is a sleeping disorder characterized by persistent difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep despite the opportunity. It is typically followed by functional impairment while awake. Insomniacs have been known to complain about being unable to close their eyes or "rest their mind" for more than a few minutes at a time. Both organic and non-organic insomnia constitute a sleep disorder.

Insomnia can be caused by:

Psychoactive drugs or stimulants, including certain medications, herbs, caffeine, cocaine, ephedrine, amphetamines, methylphenidate, MDMA, methamphetamine and modafinil ...more

No

What is insomnia? It is a condition where a person is unable to sleep. This has other indirect manifestations such as decreased energy levels, reduced concentrations, irritability and being susceptible to other infections.

No. It is not hereditory. It is the mental state of that person and nothing to do with his genes.
