By announcing as Paee-Bhupathi to partner in the Olympics the AITA has created a messy situation. They were well aware of the fact that Paes-Bhupathi had become a pair last year to coordinate their game for the Olympics but broke up again in November because of differences. Bhupathi then got a willing partner in Bopanna, who broke up with his successful Pakistani partner, and the pair has been competing at the international pair. Paes-Bhupathi have already paired in four previous Olympics and got only one bronze. How can the two combine well as a pair when they have had a history of disputes and acrimony. Doubles is all about playing in sync with your partner, combining your strengths with your partners strengths, understanding your partner and that is not possible by practicing for just one month and especially with a person with a person with whommyou are not on good terms. India's best chance lies with the pair of Bhupathi-Bopanna who have been competing as a pair for sometime. ...more
