Mrs.Soundra Kailasam was born on Feb 28th 1927 at Karur in TamilNadu. She was the first child of Late Sundara Goundar who hails from a well established land lords family.

It was her father who motivated young Soundram to learn difficult tamil slogans like Tiruppavai,Thiruvambavai and other tamil patriotic songs.By doing so, he inculcated patriotism and spiritualism in her young mind very strongly. This played a major role at her later age to become a most aspiring woman for many a people.

Getting married at the age of 15 to Mr.Kailasam (Retd Judge of Supreme Court of India) was an important turning point in her life. In British India when Male chauvinism and women education was showing its most rude face, Mr.Kailasam proved to be an encouraging and motivating husband to Soundram which paved the success road in her life.
