Audi has always had the reputation of being called "The poor mans Mercedes" but I do not agree. Both manufacturers cars are well built, well designed and perform extremely well. From experience I can say that the service you get from Audi agents after you have perchased the car is second to none - I have known Mercedes owners who have been very disappointed about the "after care". Audi look after my car and me extremely well and I never cease to be amazed at the little things they will do without charge which Mercedes charge a fortune for. Therefore I vote for Audi - but surely with top quality cars like these it is down to personal choice always.

Audi has always had a slight edge compared to Audi when it comes to performance. So if you really like driving you would prefer the Audi, but if you plan to spend most of your time in the back seat being chauffeured around you may prefer the Mercedes Benz.
Mercedes Benz and Audi are both extremely well engineered , designed and needless to say very very desirable car brands.
Traditionally Benz, BMW and Audi have always been direct competitors - and it has always been a match of equals.
The choice between any of them today actually translates down to personal preference as in all aspects safety, performance , comfort, engineering , technology they are more or less equal to each another.

Every time the big three in the luxury car space bring out a new car, it is immediately subject to incremental improvements. For Mercedes-Benz, these increments were becoming a problem. Over the last decade, the W210 and W211 E-Class were incrementally better than their predecessors on paper. But reality seemed to deliver it a nasty blow. Electronic gremlins, reliability issues and what not were driving the three-pointed star into the red quicker than their association with Chrysler .
