No. Dr Man Mohan Singh has done what he can in the two terms as PM. In spite of scams and odds his terms are the more productive in terms of growth. India withstood the economic crisis of 2008 in his tenure. He may be docile and reluctant to take severe actions against erring allies, but it does not mean he is dumb . He has done his duty to the best of his ability given the cramp space he had all through these years.

He is a righteous man in a wrong party....an intellectual .......whose hands are bound behind to take any independent decision.....He ornaments the most coveted supreme chair in the Indian Governance but perhaps most weak PM in the History of free India.....

No. It was a clever move. He was International class, and no one would doubt about his administration, as he was once a governor of Reserve Bank.. So his choice was best.. Had he been given freedon, he would have done many better things, being economist himself.. But his wings were clipped, and he had no guts to show, because he had never won any election.-- that way he was always on a mercy.

Initially when Mrs Sonia nominated him to sit in PMO, on her behalf, I thought that this was an excellent arrangement. She would take care of political problems, leaving him free to focus on providing good governance to the country.
But, obviously there was a different agenda. MMS was never given the necessary authority which a PM needs to command hisministers. He ended up becoming a helpless figure head while Kalmadis of Congress had a free rein to make merry

Our democracy is such that suppliers and contractors are strong enough to bend the system. Again the ministers and even the Prime Minister is bound by the party decision. There should be a rule that once a party member is made a minister or Prime Minister then the party cannot remove him from the party till his term is completed. Only the High court can expel him. This will give them courage to do work without pressure. The other unreasonable solution would be that once a person is elected he should resign from his party till the term of his post.
