Normally, poverty tend to make people do something wrong if they get chances to make some money. Hence, in some way, poverty can make people corrupt i.e. they are more like to offer bribes or accept bribes.

It is the highly educated, the rich and the famous, and the powerful who are deeply involved in corruption after corruption in the Country with no end to it....

How many poor or starving people have you heard of being involved in scams of lakhs and crores? Poverty makes people totally bankrupt and helpless whereas the rich and powerful are extremely corrupt in so many different ways..... All the big scams, atrocities and bloodshed in the world are committed by big wigs in power and not by the poor...

Being corrupt or indulging in corrupt practices is an inherent tendency...it does not depend on the economic factor...it just depends on principles and beleifs or the lack of it...there are those who are well off and apparently cultured but steeped in corruption...and I have seen persons living in jhuggis and taxi drivers who have returned huge amounts of money and ornaments ...which had been left behind or found on the road !
