Yes. I have come across many such cases. This is because, without understanding the spritualty, religion leads no where. So such people, when they do not get their answers or their expectations are not fulfilled through religion, become depressed (in the sense you have mentioned)

It is a question similar to one, which we often ask ourselves in the moment of sickness; whether we would recover without medicine and doctor's help.

We all suffer from a sort of spiritual malady. What that spiritual malady is? We see are not able to be truthful to ourselves. We say one thing and do something else. We spend lot of our time in grooming our conduct. Why an ugly woman does spend more time in front of mirror doing her makeup?

I think religion and spirituality are same ........ I think both converges to single word " Humanity " if they are defined in their true sense. Humanity is the supreme of all religions of the world. Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude.
