No, it was not. If we objectively analyze it, maximum infrastructure projects were initiated in their regime. Middle class was booming. But the mistake that they have made was the fact that the real fuits of India Shining was not yet reached the village an poor people. They are the people who vote maximum. While those who have benefitted by the NDA regime lower middle calls to middle class to upper middle class with mobile mania had not turned up for voting. Secondly, for village and poor folks, India Shining is like Greek and Latin. Neither they understand such slogans nor they have time to understand them as they are struggling with daily survival problems. NDA thought that India is represented by the volcal middle class. it was not and they had to pay the price. They definetely deserved the second chance but they messed up with the strategy.

India Shinning, only the richer get richer , the middle class and the poor strive and for them it is a dialy struggle. The real esate prices began to rise just around this time, the dream to own a house was soon turning into a nightmare. If the common man benefits and the economy grows then it is INDIA SHINNING. If they want to take the credit for the same , then i guess the only credit that can be given to them is for coining the phrase.

Lokesh,
They tried their best. It was extremely good regime. There were no terrorist attacks, price rise and they were heading in good way. They are supported by completely nationalist like RSS. They were completely looking at progress of India. I think they did not get success because they did not present their works very impressively on media. Media was more interested in finding out their faults.

Actually these days the top leadership of the ruling party gets swayed by the image created by their henchmen. The present govt. is also doing the same. But still the works were executed. But the common man does not relate himself to the corridors or like these things. He has have to some food at his home first of all. So these works failed to atract him. Anyway the present govt has of late tried to relate to the issues which come before common man i.e. by NREGA etc. But still they also failed to take action during the spree of suicides by farmers. You have to look into these matters if you want to get votes. UPA has tried to be popular of late but the NDA was stressing over development.

Perhaps when it comes to votes, the common man often sees his surrounding issues and ignores national issues. Terrorism and other issues have been brought to front by Media but the villages have still to relate to these issues. They are more affected by naxalism than terrorism from western ...more

No. It was an honest campaign. Much better than the UPA's Aam Aadmi Campaign. If any Government has hurt the Aam Aadmi the maximum, it is this UPA. WE have to see if the current blitz of UPA concentrating on Sonia, Manmohan and Rahul Gandhi's faces and the agenda of Aam Admi works again!

I think, it was well intentention, well meaning compaign to highlight thae progress made by the nation under NDA rule. But then media n the opponent cried foul alleging that huge expenses are being incuured to highlight non-achievements which mislead the public at large leading to loss of power by the NDA.Unfortunately, this Govt did the same thing but media pocketed the revenue n launched a very meek criticism !
