I usually have paracetamol , cough syrup and allegra tablets for allergy and use them as precautionary measures before going to the doctor. I do not take antibiotics and severe pain killers without consulting the doctor.

Yes. If thats some common cold or cough i dont see a doctor but take help of some home remedies or other generic medicine like 'crocin' or so, unless it prolongs severe and i must see the doctor. Seeing a doctor for every small ailment like these does not help much but only we may need to take a 5 day course medicines , prescribed antibiotics which was really not required and which weakens our our immunity system to some extent..!!
