The problem in India with respect to parole or early release or pardon for a crime has never been considered from the legal as well as from the humanitarian point of view to arrive at a conclusion whether it is a deserving case for consideration and a final decision on the subject. For this reason, we find that on occasions of Independence or Republic Day, sentences are commuted either due to extraneous reasons or undue political influence on the powers that be. Similarly, we have people on the death row, whose sentences are left hanging for years together without the Govt coming to a decision and prolonging the act of the final execution of the sentence.

The case of Nalini is such a case, where political considerations are overuling any other aspect including legal and the very need to give the case a second look. I am rather surprised at your question. Was conspiring Rajiv Gandhi's or rather any person's murder ever justified? Is it a small ,pardonable crime? I wish Nalini Murugan should spend her entire life in lock up.She does not deserve any mercy.

Some punishments are really heart breaking.
But we have to accept exemplary punishment for larger cause.
I have sympathy for Nalini but I can never support her release.
