Somewhere I read about the significance of Amarnath Yatra. Is this true?? Here it goes" Shiva chose a cave in a remote area where there was no one else, to share with Parvata Maa the secret of immortality. However, a pigeon's egg lay protected beneath the deerskin on which Lord Shiva sat while he was in samadhi. To this day, the pair of pigeon's that emerged from this egg is believed to hover around the cave, now called Amarnath Cave, where pilgrims offer prayers to the linga shaped ice formation after a long yatra. is this true??
Yes it is true he was narrating srimadbhagwat mahapuran to make amar(immortal) but was disturbed by a parrot who has known as maharishi sukhdevji.that is why this yatra is known as amarnath yatra and cave as amar gufa.

True or false depends on believers. All myths are confirmed only by believers as to be real.Badrinath , Markandeya, and millions of mythyical stories can be debated for its genuineness..Why shd Shiv narrate mystery of creation to parvati when Shiva cannot function without Sakthi. Actually Muslim shepherd
Buta Malik discovered the cave and found ice ling (natural phenamina)when he was to thank a sadhu who gave him a sack of Gold. which eventually this became a place of pilgrimage for all believers. Even today, around one-third of the offering given to the shrine is donated to siblings of Buta Malik and remaining is offered to the trust.Another story is that Bregeish Rishi was once touring the valley of Lidder in Kashmir when he found the Shiva Lingam in the Amarnath cave.So Many myths can be created as long as believers are there.
