I have a Demat account with Kotak from last one and half years. I was also a beginner then. They have been of great help to me always, especially if your a beginner then the daily research reports and tips that you would receive from them would prove prove very handy.

In case you are only looking for DEMAT then go for any nationalised Bank which provides this service. Please do not go for private banks.
In case you are looking for DEMAT and Trading both then go for some second rank players like Ventura Securities, Motilal Oswal, Anand Rathi, or so. They are cheap and the brokerage is also less and the service is also good.

I too strongly support Kotak Securities. You need to check the commission payable for buying and selling shares. You should also subscribe to Equity Master, where you will get tips for buying and selling. Don't deal in large sums - start with small caps and start building your portfolio. Don't go for short term gains, keep investing for a longer term and you will definitely see some gains.

Hi Mahesh
All depositories are almost same and their charges are also almost same.It is also convenient to have a trading account in same company. All work is done online so doesn't make much difference that branch is nearby or not. For daily stock market reports and tips you can visit my website www.GarimaBajaj.com
