People of West Bengal are fed up with CPM rule. They are looking for change. Congress base in West Bengal is not all that good. Like in other states people of West Bengal are looking for some strong regional party who can arm twist the center to get favorable development project for the state. DMK leaders like Raja or Balu or NCP leaders like Praful Patel or Sharad Powar, have not done anything great in their ministry other than make money for themselves and party. Still people of Tamil Nadu vote for DMK and Maharstra vote for NCP, because they know these parties are capable of arm twisting UPA government in center for getting projects for their state. Mamata may not have performed well as Railway Minister. But she is capable of bullying Central government to get funds for the state. Moreover unlike the other minister Mamta is not corrupt. Moreover like Lalu she does not take the country for a ride by window dressing the performance of her ministry. She is at least honest and down to ...more

Our innocent , ignorant public have not yet reached the level of assessing the performance of politicians at the time voting . Those days are still far away Sir . Public are still swayed by oratory capacity , attacks on opposition than to highlight own performance if any . So the emotional public of Bengal still prefer emotional speeches than performance . This trend is not exclusive for Calcutta but most other parts of India too .
