Terrorists personify the full range of every character type from the self-doubting wretch, the cunning and the brilliant, the suicidal, the political zealot, the religious fanatic, as well as those individuals haunted by demons indescribable. These individuals, whether wrapped in some cloak of their perceived destiny, ultimate truth, or final nihilistic ecstasy, suddenly choose to seize and inflict the moment of terrorism on us all.Modern day terrorists, equipped as never before with the technology and capabilities for mass destruction, can now bask in the immediate and worldwide media attention given to their terrorist violence. This phenomenon alone is provoking a spiraling drive to constantly exceed the scale and magnitude of terror. Terrorism will be the crime of the Third Millennium.Terrorism has to do with people.People often using religion as an excuse for violence.Eric Rudolph is a "Christian terrorist" as he used the Bible to justify his bombings just as Al Queda uses the Koran ...more

Many Friends have given answer that it is mis-interpretation of Scripures , Take for example Bush ,hitler ,Missoulini Pol Pot and many others who were mass murderors or those killed sikhs in delhi roits or gujarat massacre ,Did they even know their religion or faith is first question ? I don't think any one of the above even read their scriptures leave alone misinterpretating , They did this all to keep their monopoly on power , All religions people know basic simple fact that killing innocents is sin , What can be other interpretation then ?

Religion is perhaps the biggest force that drives a society.....decides the good n bad in each n every field!! i'm surprised to read that it is MISINTERPRETATION ....if it is so then common sense questions.....
# how come 90% people of particular religion have fallen pray to this so called misinterpretation....that too from generation to generation??
# muslims are the only people who claim that every muslim reads their religious scripture thoroughly and quoran is the "most read" book on the earth......then how the "wise" muslims(not even 1%) never cleared the misinterpreted texts??
#why it's only Islam that is misinterpreted that too worldwide ??

if it is misinterpretation....from generation to generation...then please close the Madrassas where it is taught ........and hang the teachers who misinterpret and produce the "killers" on the name of religion citing Quoran everytime.
Quoran is just a click away.....through many sources....islamic and non islamic...a wise person can c ...more

ITS THE RELIGION,
no religion ever says to kill anybody, (creature).

terrorism is born in the minds of evil spirit.which he tries to inculcate into the tender minds, who really dont know what he is doing!!

a classic example. in the movie "MISSION KASHMIR" hritik was not a terrorist by birth, he forced upon to be terrorist,

no soul is terrorist by birth, but sometimes the innocences, situation, circumstances make them become terrorist.

we must kill the terrorism from this earth,

For political Power , Nothing religious about it , When God commands do not kill innocents and then also they kill innocents then it is much bigger sin . Most of the victims of wars are innocents ,Hence God lays down commands for war also , do not kill women , children , men of religion of other faiths like monks or people engaged in worship of any faith and not harm trees plants crops animals even during the war . Also Incline to peace If enemies relent .

Good question ,Before trying to reply Such question we should seek to know What is an Innocent and what is a terrorist ? People give two lables to same person for same act , Bhagat singh was a freedom fighters for Indians but was considered terrorist by Britishers.Nelson MANDELA WAS TERRORIST for the west for almost 23 years but suddenly he got noble peace prize .
Can we ever call the soldiers belonging to invading countries as innocents or those instigating wars by selling weapons of war as innocent ?
It is therefore important that before a person is judged, he is given a fair hearing. Both sides of the argument should be heard, the situation should be analyzed, and the reason and the intention of the person should be taken into account, and then the person can be judged accordingly
It is true that the word terrorist is generally used for a person who causes terror among the common people. But a true beleiver should only be a terrorist to selective people i.e. anti-social element ...more

I have seen many Good answers here , I can only contribute my bit to clear some misunderstanding in some Quarters for linking killings with Religions
This is the biggest misconception in Islam, no doubt resulting from the constant stereotyping and bashing the media gives Islam. When a gunman attacks a mosque in the name of Judaism, a Catholic IRguerrilla sets off a bomb in an urban area, or Serbian Orthodox militiamen rape and kill innocent Muslim civilians, these acts are not used to stereotype an entire faith. Never are these acts attributed to the religion of the perpetrators. Yet how many times have we heard the words 'Islamic, Muslim fundamentalist. etc.' linked with violence.

Politics in so called "Muslim countries" may or may not have any Islamic basis. Often dictators and politicians will use the name of Islam for their own purposes. One should remember to go to the source of Islam and separate what the true religion of Islam says from what is portrayed in the media. ...more

Dear Rohit Soni ,
I will Provide answer to this as per Islamic perspective
Islam, a religion of mercy, does not permit terrorism. In the Quran, God has said:
God does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly with those who have not fought you about religion and have not driven you out of your homes. God loves just dealers. (Quran 60:8)
The Prophet Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, used to prohibit soldiers from killing women and children and he would advise them: ...Do not betray, do not be excessive, do not kill a newborn child.[ And he also said: Whoever has killed a person having a treaty with the Muslims shall not smell the fragrance of Paradise, though its fragrance is found for a span of forty years.[
Also, the Prophet Muhammad has forbidden punishment with fire.[
He once listed murder as the second of the major sins, and he even warned that on the Day of Judgment, The first cases to be adjudicated between people on the Day of Jud ...more

Terrorism as a weapon to influence the governments started in early 1900 and then in the 40's a whole lot of terrorist activity took place in London. It got established as an ugly system with the Munich bombing in the 70's followed by a plane hijacking.
Today, a Terrorist is one who wraps bombs around his body and explodes killing a bus load of people, however we want to seriously think about naming another form of terrorism - wrapping gigantic bombs around F-16's and killing whole townships and nations for no good reason.
According to the website copyrighted by Pierie Scruff, which gives the statistics of wars and civil wars, about 160 million people died in wars in the 20th century
Out of the total number of around 160 million dead, more than 135 million have been killed in or by countries that are now the five big powers of the world, namely China, the US, the UK, France and Russia. The killings by or in Muslim countries form a very small percentage of the total killings, despite ...more

It is definitely not the religion. Those in the outfit of terrorists cannot even interpret it leave alone misinterpret it. There are religious fanatics or person guided by self-interests who induct gullible persons to act as terrorists. They brain wash them and din into their ears the misinterpreted version of the religion. Only they begin to believe that killing innocent person for a cause is a good deed.
