You got your knowledge and wisdom through hard work and study, so never downgrade your intellect for any reason,

Life is all about compromises my friend and there are occasions when someone else hogs the limelight for all the effort you have made. It happens, although the truth comes out later on .
I am too proud to ask for any returns of my professional work and sometimes do settle for less than what I and my team of staff deserve. But this is because I have the confidence that my point will be proved sooner or later and in most cases the cheat who managed to be the cynosure of all eyes momentarily is reduced to a babbling liar trying to explain why :-)
