As far as I am aware astrology is not a science there being no scientific evidence that it works. However, it is big business and people are quite happy to part with their money to hear something, anything, that will make them feel better.

ASTROLOGY IS BASED ON SCIENTIFIC FACTS AND PREDICTIONS ARE MADE FROM THE INTERPRETATION OF THE COMBINATION OF THE PLANETARY POSITION AT A PARTICULAR POINT OF TIME WHICH IS AN ART BASED ON THE EXPERIMENTS OF MANY PHILOSOPHER OF THE PAST AND PRESENT.
So on hand it is, having a scientific back ground, a science, and predictions are based on experience of people, it is an art.

In NDA (BJP)'s six year rule, Murli Manohar Joshi the then HRD minister tried his level best to introduce this as a full fledged in academic curriculum all over the country right upto post graduate level. Thankfully did not find man takers and the idea flopped in face of heavy opposition.
Astrology is a thing of personal liking and belief in what they call as "science' ! The fact is that astrology has no scientific basis whatsoever. To gain respect, recognition and acceptability, people try to equate Astrology with science. In fact this is a misnomer. Science has a clear definition and Astrology doesn't go with that definition from any angle. Science is based on hard facts, which go through the rigors of intense inquiry, experimentation and research. Astrology has Rahu and Ketu, which cannot pass any preliminary inquiry itself.
