Choose the place which is closer to your college. Universities guarantee accommodation for international students if they apply before the deadline. You can also have a shared accommodation which can work out cheaper and give you more flexibility. In terms of rupees, university accommodation costs Rs. 3,400-13,700 per week while shared accommodation can cost you anywhere between Rs. 4.300-Rs. 13,000.

Gyani,
Each college has its own student forum where you can post your queries. Senior Indian students can accommodate you in their house for a week till you rent your own apartment. Go the college's website and find out the Indian seniors in your department. Then you can email them and request for lodging for a few days. Typically the rent prices depends on the place. Like for states like Indiana, Georgia, Ohio, the rent for a one bedroom apartment is $500-$600. But in places like California or New York, the same one bedroom would cost you around $1200-$1500. Students normally share the apartment so that the rent, Electricity, GAS, Water and Trash (all these are called utilities in US) are divided. Also, you may need to take a cell-phone after you come here which is around $45 a month. The electricity again depends on state to state but it ranges from $40-$100 per month. Hope this answers your question.
