How VLC media player is better than windows media player ?

It may not be any better but it is advisable to use it as most of us do not have a genuine copy of windows and using windows media player we may be asked for the licence number of windows and not being able to give may cause problems for the user.

1.vlc works with almost all os like linux, mac etc
2. it supports all videofiles and audio files like .flv,.wav etc
..
