Dhratrashtras wife Gandhari bore him 100 sons who were later known as Kauravas. The method by which they were conceived is described in the epic as "KUMBHASAMBHAVA. It is because they were born in a Kumbh (an earthen pot). Gandhari wanted 100 sons and 1 daughter. It is said that Rishi Vyasa, with extreme care incubated 101 pieces of Gandhari's fetus into pots and thus Kauravas were born.

He had 100 sons and a daughter.
Gandhari, Dhratrashtra's wife couldnot digest the fact that her co-sister, Kunti gave birth to 5 sons.So she pulled the embryo out of her womb.Later Sage Vedavyasa stored this embryo(then split into 101 parts) in earthen pots filled with ghee.

It is ofcousre possible because Vedavyasa was a sage who had pleased God and had infinite powers.

That was miracle of Ancient Indian science!! it has been described as "kumbhasambhava" in the scriptures. one detailed study on the method has proved that it is nothing but "stem cell technology" as stem cells has the capacity to develop into complete creature.....if incubated properly.
