Q.

Democracy is yet to take deeper roots in India. The voters are not always conscious enough to see through the unscrupulous games of political parties practicing mobocracy, mafiacracy and money-o-cracy as tools in the electoral competition. Gujarat riots are an instance of democratically elected Government practicing mobocracy by playing upon emotions of the people ?

IT will never take deep roots. For one, the roots are from unhealthy seeds. There has to be a fresh strain created from healthy seeds. It will take a revolution for this.

I agree that democracy is yet to take deeper roots in India. But not surprised. We are a people who ave lived under monarchy for many centuries. Sixty years of democracy is to short a time (in historical terms) for our thinking to change. It might take several generations for Indians to become mature. Proper education of the coming generations is very necessary
