Dear Rachana,
Asha Bhosle - The living legend and the most versatile female singer till date. with more than 20,000 (corrected) songs contribution to the Indian cinema leaves her sister Lata or any other singer far behind as far as variety of songs are concerned be it Love song, Mujra, Cabaret, Qawali, Pop, Remix, Ghazals or songs in the 14 different regional languages and winner of 10 filmfare awards and many more other popular awards. Sky is no limit for her and all I can say is that we are lucky to have her singing even in our generation with peppy numbers like
RADHA KAISE NA JALE-LAGAAN, LE GAYI LE GAYI-DTPH or seriously dance floor ones like Khallas, Shararas & Kambakht Ishqs or Lucky Lips from Lucky

Bollywood was truly blessed to have Asha Bhosle,a singer with such awesome versatile, amazingly young and seductive a voice. She could sing ghazalas, bhajans, dance numbers, item numbers, patriotic songs, folk songs, nazms etc, with equal depth and expertise. She never fell short of her ability to rise as per the demand of the genre, she even tried western pop and succeeded with aplomb.
Her voice, has range, variety of emotions, understanding of the nuances of each and every genre...languages not withstanding,be it hindi, urdu, english, punjabi, marathi, bangla, gujrati, kannada, tamil,t elegu, malyali and many others, even bhojpuri.
I love almost all songs composed by R.D. Burman,O.P. Nayyar etc. and performed by Asha Bhosle but here is a shortlist of my favorite songs sung by Asha Bhosle:

O Meray Sona Re (Lyrics)
From the 1966 classic Tesri Manzil. The song is picturized on Shammi Kapoor and Asha Parekh. Teesri Manzil was one of many hit movies featuring the music of R.D. Burman, voice of Asha Bhosle ...more

Ashaji has been a unique singer and had a fantastic career because she always loved what she did. She started as an ordinary singer but kept on evolving herself again and again. She had and has amazing abilities and she never fails to pleasantly surprise me at least.

Bhanwra bada naadaan hai, botal se ek baat khuli hai (private album), ghir ayi kaali ghata matwaari saawan ki ayi bahaar re, katra katra milti hai, main jab bhi akeli hoti hoon, etc. are some of the lovely songs that I can readily remember now.

Others have also mentioned so many of my favourites :))) so don\'t want to repetitive. Ashaji alongwith Geeta Dutt has been my all time favourite singer.

Asha is a great versatile singer no doubt she along with her Sister Lata made Indian Film music so rich especially of bollywood. tell you frankly, i rate Asha some what higher than Lata. ( it is my personal opinon ). be it ghazals, sad songs, musti bara hua songs, duets along with rafi , kishore , mukesh or Manne Dey, she is great. I think only two people have done wonders to her, one is O.P. Nayyar and the other one is R.D. Burman. Moreover, i like some of the following songs of her .
(1) Ab se baras ( bandini)
(2) Aye Ye Meharbaan ( Howrah Bridge)
(3) Deewana Mastana ( Bombay ka Babu) duet with Rafi
(4) Chain se humko Kabhi ( Pran jaye phar vachan na jaye ) one of my favourite.
(5) Dum Maro Dum, HRHK
(6) Mere Kuch saman Tumhare Pass Pada Hai, ( Izzat ) another of my favourite , guljar lyric is superb)
(7) The Bhazan of Kajal , Mora man darpan ka laye .
(8) Aadha Hai Chandra ma with M. Kapoor in Navrang
(9) Piya Tu Ab to Aja.
(10) All Ghazals of Umrao Jaan. ...more
