May I rewrite the couplet? Daya dharm ka mool hai, paap mul abhiman. Tulsi daya naa chhodiye, jab tak tan mein pran. It is clarified as, donot leave compassion to others in your actions, it is the root of Dharm(will of God). Abhimaan(actions which increase ego) is the root of Paap(against the will of God). Saint Tulsidaas advises to be in possession of compassion(Daya) as long as you are alive.

It is a KABEER DOHA(more or less).....Daya (a suitable word in english is COMPASSION) has been described in all religious scripts is THE BASIS OF RELIGION & SPIRITUALITY....above all humanity........

"paap mul santaap" - when we do sin, we will get its bad effect in the long run....

"jahan shama vahan dharm" - when we could able to forgive some one for its mistake, we could get the exact meaning of "Dhara"(religion).....

" jahan daya wahan aaap" -- means, where we find "Daya(compassion)", we could feel the presence of GOD...God resides there....
