Although the primary tasks of Data Analyst are compilation and analysis of numerical information, a data analyst often takes on other roles.
A data analyst is a highly trained individual that specializes in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data from various resources. For example, the data may be obtained from secondary source documents such as statistical studies, or from direct consumer marketing surveys. In terms of analysis, the data analyst generally uses data management and reporting systems to collect and organize specific data drawn from relational databases. While this process is largely automated, it must first be initiated by developing mathematical computations.
In some private firms, they just give bombastic titles but the work could be only feeding data. You need to ask the advertiser in each case.

The process of data analysis can be broadly divided into four categories. These are data cleaning, initial analysis, main data analysis and finally, base line. Data cleaning implies removal of incorrect data. Secondly, initial analysis implies making an examination of the quality of data. Alternatively, main data analysis means learning madness of the data. Finally, final analysis means providing additional information. All these steps involved in the process of data analysis require extremely skilled professionals because each of these steps involves complex mathematical calculations as well as computerized models and only a highly qualified data analyst will be able to know the algorithms as well as statistics which are used for predicting the particular meaning of the data.
