Why do we think that a particular class can be the best well-wisher of that particular class - like women for women,minorities for minorities ,backward for backward ,,etc ,,,is it not discriminatory and unconstitutional?your views ,pl.

It is a brilliant question and I fully appreciate the spirit behind it.Yes, this is a myth. The poor is not always friend of another poor person, or a woman is not necessarily another woman's best friend. Sometimes or mostly they are bitter rivals. But in any kind of official or semi-official process, the representatives of these sections of population are kept to prove that relevant perspectives and interests have been covered or taken into consideration. The representatives may not prevent the wrongs always, but they can stall or upset the proceedings by making right noises if they are efficient and willing. But whether they will do it or not depends on their own interests. They can be purchased or lured into doing the things, detrimental to the interests they are supposed to represent. We get to see such evidences quite often. But a common person who does not or can not look deep into such matters, will accept the mere presence of such representatives as enough safeguard of the in ...more

It's a kind of sectarianism you can say, which is no good for the development of the biggest democratic country like ours. Such feelings, once nurtured, grow like parasites and eat up the whole healthy environment and finally you are left nowhere but singled out at last. Communal feelings are as dangerous as regional or others feelings. As long as you love, try to live with a peaceful co-existence and your welfare as well the progress of the country too depend only on this aspect...!
