General was a class X student of Birla Public school in 1965. Being only 14 and a boarder one of his teachers filled his NDA form and filled DOB as 1950 without checking from schools official records. Later in 1966 before joining NDA he was issued class X certificate which had DOB 1951. NDA noticed the discrepancy and corrected the DOB as 1951 as per their rule (Class X certificate is final). Controversy has been raked up recently as General ordered inquiry in Sukna land deal and Adarsh housing scam.-Comment

Well if that would have been the case , then there would be no problems as of now.It was in the newspapers taht twice General VK singh has enetered his year of birth as 1950 in his own handwriting and raking up this issue at this time , just a sometime before his retirement clearly speaks about his malafide intentions to prolong his service length by a year.

Whoever his successor be, he can can still take up the issue and pursue to its logical conclusion. Army Chief should retire as he has enjoyed all the benefits a year earlier than his due date because of this error.

I am not convinced of this. Afield officer should have ascertained that his date of birth in all the documents was one and the same, long back. He has failed in his normal verification and correction, at many opportunities given fora government employee. His declaration that he would resign if his later date of birth is not approved was not followed for some reason !.
