Q.

The IPL tamasha has been hyped up to unprecedented levels. Some feel that this euphoria will die by the end of the tournament, and will lose attraction, as the teams are only farcical, with no body playing for anything other than money. A few stars will emerge, perhaps, but they may not be keen to play for country. Comment?

True; it has lost all the fun when you are not representing any country or a specifc group. The saddest part of it is that the senior Indian team players are not taking part in the touring team for ICC matches because what they earn here they don't do so in those matches. Tendulkar, Dhoni, Sehwag, Yuvraj... are not the part of the touring team.

Yes it's true that IPL is hyped and advertised on a large scale, lots of money is invested in the tournament. The players in the teams are mostly big names and its true that they have been paid huge amounts to participate, the main reason for this is that the Indian domestic players get a chance to rub shoulders with international players. It' a great opportunity for Indian cricket.
