PM RajivGandhi was then accused of receiving kickbacks for approving 155mm
field howitzer.This led to downfall of congress in Nov 1989 elections.It came into light during V.P.Singh's tenure as defense minister.Quattrocchi was the powerful broker.In 1997,swiss banks released around 500 documents after years of legal wrangling and CBI filed a case against Quattrocchi but several attempts to extradicate quattrocchi failed.Meanwhile feb5,2004 Delhi high court quashed the charges of bribery against Rajiv Gandhi and others but the case is still being tried on charges of cheating;causing wrongful loss to the Governmet.However on Jan16,2006 CBI claimed in an affadavit filed before Supreme Court that they were still pursuing extadition orders for Quattrocchi.The interpol at the request of CBI has a long standing red corner notice to arrest Quattrocchi.He was detained in Argentina on 6Feb 2007 and later released.Howev ...more

Why don't you say BJP and its allies, instead of "parties other than congress." heh heh heh... shows clearly you are biased.
And one more thing... Bharadwaj is right. Do you think in the middle of election Congress will make such a blunder as to tell CBI to remove red corner alert of Interpol from Quatrochi? Will this not give a bad name to congress and give chance to opposition to rake up the issue much to their great benefit and great loss to Congress in these election time?? Do you think Congress is a new party with inexperienced school boys handling the party????????????

BJP & Congress are same.
Any bad elements can do all unlawful things and can escape by using Money.

I personally feel,politics is one battlefield,which has no well etched rights,or wrongs...there are too many grey areas,which just cant be unscrambled due to the sheath on sheath layering,where solutions are none,and blame game is the objective...country and its welfare would always take a backseat for the men in power and more so for the ambitious ones,outside of the power.

Bofors scandal 1980...we r living in the yr 2009.There have been LS elections earlier also,but this scandl wasnt picked by either.Now after so many yrs(as it is a matter of shame)when u see results...The blame game begins.So the end of one controversy is the birth of another.HuH!
