While it is true that drinking coffee helps in staying awake and in some cases for hours together, there is always a risk of caffeine addiction which may become self-sustaining loop. You drink coffee to stay awake, but that stops you from sleeping properly; so the next day youre tired, so you drink coffee to stay awake, but that and so on!

I personally prefer tea. But if purpose is important to stay awake, all these stimulants are not needed.
