Cheque bounce due to insufficient funds and inability to pay the amount in the stipulated time can lead to simple imprisonment if the bank takes the matter to its logical end. However, the cost of litigation prevents banks from pursuing the matter if the amount is small , However They will put up your name and details on the CRISIL website as a defaulter which leads to other banks refusing you credit and loans when you require them in future.
