You can just hear songs sung by the present singers while doing any thing. They won't engage your attention. But, Lataji's song can not be so ignored. There are two reasons; first the composer of lyrics wrote meaningful songs which conveyed meaning and touched the heart of people, second the music- it was composed with great care to make it melodious and was based on the Indian Classical Music. Gradually, pop songs and English music with great hustle and bustle overtook the tunes and new musicians lacked depth in the classsical songs, produced songs with more noise of drums, guitars and composed them on machines. Melody is in the songs of the melody queen LATA JI; AND SHE IS ALL TIME FAVOURITE even today.
