In the year 1996 KPS Gill was convicted for sexual harassment. It has been alleged that he had patted the posterior of a female officer at a party in a drunken state. He was sentenced to pay a find of Rs. 2 lakh and be imprisoned rigorously for 3 months and simply for 2 months and finally to serve 3 years of probation. After final appeals before the Supreme Court in July 2005, the conviction was upheld, and the jail sentences were reduced to probation. The victim had declined to accept the monetary compensation, and the court ordered that it be donated to women's organizations. Outraging the modesty of a woman is a serious crime and it is a fit case for withdrawing his medals.

Rathod's and Gill's crimes are totally different. Gill was just silly and boyish and had it not been for the woman who reacted to such a forgivable demeanor, it would have been just an incidence out of innumerable such take place every moment in this world. But Rathod was vengeant ultimately resulted in the suicide of Ruchika. A poor girl suffered a lot and she had to pay it with her life. I still doubt whether Gill really deserved such a defiling punishment.

KPS Gill pinched a lady's bottom, in a drunken state.
It is a serious misdeamour
But it does not amount to rape.
